Trans-Am News
Stop what you are doing and get yourself registered for our 22nd annual High Performance Racing Seminar. This outstanding event is set for Saturday February 11, 2017 at the Quality Inn and Suites just off I5 in Tacoma. Just go to our website at www.armadilloracing.com and right on the home page are most of the details. Not all the details because I’m writing those details to you right now and just haven’t found a free moment to update the webpage with this big news.
Our special lunchtime guest speaker for the seminar is 1992 Trans-Am Champion Jack Baldwin! Jack pulled off an unprecedented achievement when he completed every lap of every Trans-Am event that year. 503 laps and Jack did them all. Oh, in his 45 years of racing, Jack has won the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring twice, a couple of IMSA GTU Championships, and recently has been racing in the Pirelli World Challenge. Jack is an unbelievable personality that you just have to hear as he shares literally a lifetime of racing at the highest level.
Put hode it as we say in Texas. Jack is the lunchtime guest. We have a whole day filled with the information from the top racing technical gurus in the country. John Block, race engineer is going to talk about how you can get your car to go faster and drive easier. Ed Zabinski, a top driving coach is going to share his unique program so that you improve all race weekend long and all season long. His simple plan addresses the entire process of planning, practicing and executing the tactics and strategies that will deliver the goals a driver at any level has set for the next race or an entire season. Then add Roger Caddell the national technical trainer for AIM Motorsports to teach you all about data acquisition, what it is, how you use it and most importantly what to do with the data as you relate to your car to help you go faster.
Let me be serious for a moment. I have hundreds of hours in getting these world class speakers to come here to help you learn more about racing, apply this knowledge directly to your car and your driving (not to mention incredible expense). This is a day all about you. All you have to do is to get registered and come out. Just do it now. Thank you in advance. Just because you are a very special racing friend to Armadillo Racing, I want to offer you a special incentive to register tonight or tomorrow and I’ll give you a flash drive with Darrick Dong’s brake presentation from our 20th annual seminar. This is not only a $50 value but is unobtainable from anyone but Armadillo Racing. So get ‘er done and register right now.
Trans-Am news #2. The Vintage Trans-Am group is coming to Pacific Raceways this summer for SOVREN’s NW Historics. These are the real cars that ran in the 1960’s and 1970’s and the ground will shake when this field of cars rumbles by. You do not want to miss this event, so along with our seminar, be sure to add the PNW Historics to your calendar for July 4th weekend.
Trans-Am news #3. The modern day Trans-Am series is coming to Portland at the end of July to run with the SVRA vintage race weekend. How long has it been since THE Trans-Am has run in the NW? You have to go back to the 1990s and that is a long time. Credit SVRA President Tony Parella for making this happen. There is nothing the clubs can do to promote racing more than the Trans-Am series coming to the NW. Now the clubs in the NW need to plan how they are going to market to the spectators who will be coming for this great event. Why just tonight I was chatting with SOVREN President Martin Rudow about how SOVREN could take advantage of the SVRA Trans-Am event to promote the Columbia River Classic that will be Labor Day weekend (hardly a month following the Trans-Am). Oooo Boy this is gonna be good.
OK loyal readers, I’m cutting this short tonight ’cause with Armadillo Ana visiting her family in Colombia, I gotta fix my own din din and then clean up to go to the takies. Tonight is a one off showing of the classic musical, Singin’ in the Rain and I can’t wait to see it again.
Oh yeah, the IRDC banquet is Saturday night at Griots Garage in Tacoma. Free to come but it is potluck so you gotta bring a dish. If you need details just write me and I’ll hook you up. There will be lots of news next week so stand by.
